Functions
LC 01” is a carburation electronic control system to control the gas supply (Lpg or Cng) of vehicles,
programmable and automatically adaptable by microcontroller, able to maintain the AIR / GAS
stoichiometric relation (CNG o LPG) relation in every working condition, within the optimal value. LC
01” is used with following Lpg or Cng LANDI RENZO pressure regulator: SE 81, SE 81 SIC, EC 04,
TN1, TN1 SIC, TN1/B, TN1/B SIC, CN 04.
“LC 01” processes the input signals of:
LAMBDA SENSOR
RPM
THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR (T.P.S.)
and allow to:
* emulate the right functioning of Lambda Sensor without the use of no other external emulator
* emulate the petrol injection running on gas without the use of no other external emulator
* directly manage the GAS solenoid run, by using the “Safety” function in case of accidental engine
turn off
* manage the control of the carburation for every RPM rate
* automatically switch from petrol to gas
* selection type of fuel (gas/petrol) by switch in
* show the level of available gas stored in the tank (with standard switch).

The GAS regulation is setted by a Linear Electromechanical Actuator to fit along the pipe that connect the pressure reducer to the mixer.
The Electromechanical Actuator is made by a plastic body with a calibrated hole for the GAS course,
where is fitted a stepper motor able to dose, depending on the needing, the right quantity of gas.
The only manual regulation is the one regarding the idle speed carburation, operation to set on the
pressure reducer and is important that it is done with the maximum precision using an exhaust gas
analyser.
“LC 01” controls the carburation also during the idle speed functioning, if the setting of the pressure
reducer is not optimal (mix too rich or too poor) it can’t do the right variations, its main objective is to
set a fine carburation regulation in idle speed.
The different vehicles can manage in different ways the signals of these sensors. Therefore become
really important to set in the right way the control unit “LC01” so that it can works, through:
•
PERSONAL COMPUTER (O.S.: Windows 98 or newer versions) with specific programming
SOFTWARE
•
SERIAL INTERFACE to connect PC to LC 01 control unit
•
TESTER to programme this control unit.
The LC01 system is made by:
A) LC01 control unit
To be suitable for the different employments, there are three different solutions:
LC 01 3-4 cylinders
LC 01 5-6 cylinders
LC 01 BASE (internal emulator for BOSCH type monoinjectors)
B) Linear Electromechanical Actuator
C) Switch for LC01
LC01 Control Unit connection wiring is provided separated, the different versions are:
LC01 Exclusion injectors wiring Bosch type for 3-4 cylinders vehicle
LC01 Exclusion injectors wiring Bosch type for 5-6 cylinders vehicle
LC01 Exclusion injectors wiring Universal type for 3-4 cylinders vehicle

INSTALLATION OF LC01 COMPUTER
The control unit must be attached to the car chassis inside the engine compartment accordino
following instrucions:
•
•
•
•
Position the control unit away from sources of heat (exhaust header, radiators, etc.), protected
by water and away from ignition high voltage wires;
place the control unit with the connector side facing down to prevent any water droplets from
penetrating inside the control unit through the connectors (fig.3);
Notify the customer about the Feedback System that restores the devices connections in case of
breakdown of the gas system fuse.
Remember to not open the Feedback System case in each case, specially when the engine runs
or the key on, to avoid dangerous damages.
INSTALLATION OF LINEAR ELECTROMECHANICAL ACTUATOR (Fig. 4)
The Linear Electromechanical Actuator regulates the GAS aspired by the engine, keeping the functioning carburetion inside the optimal values.
The Linear Electromechanical Actuator must be installed at the gas inlet pipe, between pressure reducer and mixer, preferably the nearest to the mixer in order to optimize the cut-off function.
WARNING: never position the Linear Electromechanical Actuator with the motor facing down or in
such a way that oil deposits can penetrate inside the motor (fig.4).
INSTALLATION AND OPERATION OF SWITCH / GAUGE
Install the Switch / Gauge on the dashboard in a viewable position and easy to touch. Drill with a Ø
12 mm bolt. Clean the dashboard and fix the switch using adhesive tape.
The features of the switch are:
• it shows the gas level stored in the tank;
• it allows to select the type of fuel: GAS or PETROL;
Pushing the button, it passes from the GAS running to the PETROL running or at the opposite, from
PETROL running to GAS running.

Electrical connections
It is recommended to solder listed wire connections or, in alternative, use FAST-IN / FAST-ON terminals, and insulate them properly. Never use current taps.
Remove the fuses placed on the wiring before to connect the electrical connections. Replace them
at the end of the installation.
POWER SUPPLY
UNDERKEY
RED WIRE
It’s seriously important that the power supply underkey (+12V) has to be connected to an electrical device of the car with this features:
* the tension have not to be a timed tension
* it is present in the vehicle start up phase
WARNING
The Power Supply Underkey supplies power to the gas services, the RED WIRE
mustn’t be connected to the lower to 1mm2 section original vehicle connection
wires
Use fuse of MAX 7,5 A.
GAS SERVICES
BLUE WIRE
The GAS services output, “LC 01” control unit BLUE wire, supplies the power to
the GAS solenoids (interception and pressure reducer solenoids) and all the devices (timing advance or other) that need of the GAS command to run.
The control unit integrated SAFETY-CAR device controls the GAS services output, it enables the GAS solenoids only in engine running state, this make possible the interruption of the delivery of the gas.

BLUE-YELLOW
WIRE
(Set this
parameter from
the menu of the
Software)
The T.P.S. is mechanically connected to the accelerator throttle, and send to the
injection control unit a signal variable in tension proportionally to the throttle opening angle.
In new generation vehicles where the throttle opening is not commanded mechanically, but through an electro-mechanical device connected to the throttle,
the T.P.S. signal can be draw otherwise from the sensor that measures the position of the accelerator.
The BLUE-YELLOW wire can be connected to many different throttle position
observer devices as: linear potentiometer, switch, and so on.
Potentiometers usually are managed from three wires: two power supply wires
(5V) and one signal wire. The connection must be done on the signal wire. The
switches have two wires: one wire for the power supply and one for the reference (switch 0-12 / switch 12-0).
In case the TPS signal generate troubles to the gas carburation managing, leave the BLUE-YELLOW wire insulated and set the correspondent voice in the calibration tool.

To grant the right functioning of the system the control unit has to acquire the
signal of the pre-catalyst lambda sensor.
Using the right wires to interrupt (in most cases) the wire that bring the signal to
the petrol injection control unit, in other conditions connect the VIOLET wire (for
specific indications for each vehicle read the installation scheda).
The signal wire must be connected to the one that brings a variable tension to
the petrol injection control unit.
Connect the VIOLET wire to the end coming from the sensor and acquire the
sensor signal.
Connect the GREY wire to the end directed to the petrol injection control unit and
supplies the emulation to the original control unit.
To connect the LC01 system to checked in current lambda sensors, or on engines that presents one or more sensors after the catalyzer/s (EURO 3-4) use an
appropriate OBD managing module.

PETROL
INJECTORS
EXCLUSION
The petrol exclusion injectors is enclosed into the LC 01 control unit.
The different connections wiring to combine with the control unit allow to interface with the injectors normally used by O.E.M.
On 3 and 5 cylinders engines one of the exclusion injectors wiring remain free.
The connections to the petrol injectors through 4 cyl. UNIVERSAL wiring aren’t
binding, it’s necessary to interrupt one of the two power supply wires for every
petrol injector, with no polarity regulation.
The connection to the mono-injectors of other types have to be realized with
YELLOW coloured wires.
The wires GREEN-GREEN / BLACK coloured are the output of a “a riposo” NC
relay and during the running on petrol state (NO on gas) they have to been
used for additional services.

Insert the connector coming from the LC 01 control unit into the connector on
the linear electromechanical actuator (wiring F fig. 2-3).
SWITCH
Insert the connector coming from the LC 01 control unit into the switch
connector (wiring J, fig. 2-3).
PROGRAMMING/
DIAGNOSE
CONNECTOR
To programme and diagnose the LC 01 control unit connect to the specific
TESTER or to a PERSONAL COMPUTER (through a serial interface wiring).
Leave the programming /diagnosis (wiring A fig. 2-3) connector in a easy
position.
Learning carburation procedure
All the LC01 control unit functions are programmable and editable only using appropriate pc
software or in alternative using a specific programming TESTER.
When the LC01 control unit is not power supplied (i.e. battery removed) the setted parameters
remain in memory.
All the system programming specifics are enclosed in the LC01 Software Handbook.
For LC01 carburation learning follow this instructions:
1
Put on the fuses on the wiring (fuses taken away during the installation phase).
2
Connect the PC to the interface kit to the approprtiate connector of the wiring; otherwise
connect the programming tester to the appropriate connector of the wiring (cable A, fig. 2-3).
3
Start the appropriate program and programme the LC01 control unit according to the vehicle
features (read the LC01 SOFTWARE HANDBOOK for more informations and follow the vehicle
settings described in the specifics vehicle schedas)
4
Start up the engine with the Switch / gauge in petrol position and wait a few minutes to allow the
engine and the lambda sensor warm up.
5
Launch the program from the pc and open the page “F2 – DATA ACQUISITION”
“OPERATIONAL CONDITION” and verify that all the set parameters are correctly shown.
6
Place the exhaust gas analyser sensor to the output of the exhaust pipe.
7
At this point it’s possible to make the “out of idle” carburation acquisition, the control unit
estimates a new DEFAULT value to gain a proper carburetion.
(with a new LC01 control unit, or after “RESET MEMORY” the default position of the linear
electromechanical actuator is at 70 steps):
- press the switch button and accelerate to permit a change-over to gas
- bring the engine into a range of 1500 / 3500 RPM
- keep fixed the accelerator until the learning of a new DEFAULT value (the initial value
displayed it will change quickly til stabilization).
- leave the accelerator pedal
LANDI RENZO S.p.A.
LC01
13/16
8
Subsequently make a carburation on a minimum RPM, regulating the pressure reducer:
maintain engine running on gas
rotate the pressure reducer idle register until the “Actuator” steps will oscillate
around the “Default” value
The system, day by day, will adopt the “DEFAULT” value in function of the activation of several
engine loads (see AC, light, and so on..) and of a medium value of correction of the linear
electromechanical actuator.
9
Verify on monitor that the indicator of the lambda sensor oscillates regularly.
10
Check with exhaust gas analyser the lambda sensor value, CO, HC and CO2 correspond to
the one write in the tables of the LANDIRENZO instruction of installation and regulation.
11
After the registration of the carburation on different RPMs, test on road using PC or TESTER,
verify that the actuator correction deviation has not to be very different from the acquired
DEFAULT value. In this case repeat the DEFAULT “apprendimento” in on road engine
functioning conditions.
NOTE
The TPS idle position and the linear electromechanical actuator default position are acquired for
every time the system is furned on. The last acquired default value is used as starting position.
Functioning abnormality diagnosis
The switch / gauge shows to the fitter or to the user this error conditions:
In case of running with the switch / gauge in gas position the GREEN led (fig. 5) start to flash slowly,
it means that there is one of these error conditions:
•
•
•
The lambda sensor doesn’t work;
The lambda sensor takes the rich mix for too much time;
The lambda sensor takes the poor mix for too much time;
The vehicle runs on gas also if the switch reports an error, but in OPEN LOOP conditions the
vehicle driveability should be irregular.
These error conditions (also if they are not more showed in the next vehicle turnons) are
permanently registrated in the LC01 control unit memory.
The error is shown by using the specific program. After the resolution of the problem, use the
program to delete the error from the memory.
LANDI RENZO S.p.A.
LC01

Use
The system use is really simple. Through the switch / gauge is possible view the system state:
LED GREEN quickly flash: the control unit is ready for PETROL start up and the automatic
change-over to gas; the passaggio happens according to the parameters setted in the program.
LED GREEN always on: the engine is running on GAS
4 GREEN LEDS, 1 RED LED: the four GREEN LED supply the indication of gas stored level (1/4,
2/4, 3/4, 4/4). The RED LED shows the fuel reserve state.
(*) Witch the switch / gauge “only reserve” the four GREEN LED supply the indication of gas
superior than reserve, the RED LED shows the fuel reserve state.
LED YELLOW always on: the engine is running on PETROL.
The engine turning on becomes always on petrol, when all the setted conditions in the control unit
are guaranteed (LED GREEN flash quickly, RPM threshold, acceleration / deceleration, pressure
reducer temperature) the commutation to gas take place automatically and the GREEN LED will
show a steady light.
When the stored gas is ending the engine will not have a regular functioning, to change-back to
petrol press the button over the switch / gauge, in this case the GREEN LED turns off and the
YELLOW LED turns on.
EMERGENCY STARTING
The EMERGENCY function is activable only if the RED wire of the LC 01 control unit is
connected to a +12V underkey not timed.
In case the vehicle can’t start up on PETROL, is possible to start it up on GAS. To get this, follow
this instructions:
• turn on the instruments board placing the key on “Run” (lights on switch / gauge turned on);
• keep pushed the button for 5 seconds;
• the GREEN LED will pass from a flashing state to always turned on;
• start up the engine without the turning off of the instruments board, the vehicle will start directly on
GAS.
Every time that the instruments board will turn off it will be necessary the overwritten operations.
The engine start up by using the EMERGENCY procedure is not a standard, but it’s an alternative
way to use if is not possible to start up the engine on petrol, so that it’s possible to reach a car
service center.
LANDI RENZO S.p.A. has no responsabilty in case of damage to engine using this function.
SECURITY - SAFETY CAR
In case of engine accidental turning off or in case of accident, the LC01 system stops the power
supply to the solenoids that controls the distribution of the gas avoiding any gas leakage.
