install and compatible with most PC noth her boards and CPU systems, thanks to Tagan innovative

1. Warnings & Safety Precautions
For safety purposes, Tagan provides a rubber protective cover for the power switch and an extra
thck RTN ground connection cable connected to the mainboard. The AC power cord of the Tagan
fG480-VOI is shielded 'by copper mesh and grounded for secutify and EM1 shielding.
'Nevertheless, please read carefully and be aware of all the details in this user's manual before
owration.

For trained service personnel only!
Risk of high voltage hazard! Fatal injury can occur, especially i f the pawer switch is on and power
cord is pluggd in.
Do not use wet hands when working with the PSU, such as plugging in the v

windows of the PSU.

2- Warranty & Handling
Under normal operation, Tagan provides 38 months warranty since the date of purchasing. If you
have any of technical problems. please contact your vendor fitst. Our entire service channel will
offer you the full technical support to solve the problems.
Please clearly indicate the Model 8 Serial Number before sending the defective PSU product back
In Tagan for reparr or exchange.
Warranty becomes void if the sticker is broken or removed, as well as

on a natural disaster or catastrophe
3. Ins tallation Notes
Please read the warnings and precautions stated above before proceeding with the following
installation steps.
2 . Ensure that the main power onloff switch is off. In case of exchanging an old PSU, unplug the
power cord fmm the PSU, if connected.
2. Open the PC case chassis and mount the Tagan PSU using the 4 (four) suitable screws (part of
the accessory kit delivered with the PSU) into the matching chassis holes prepared for installing
PSU.
3. Connect the ATX 20-pin and 4-pin or the ATX 24-pin and 418-pin DC output connectors to the
mainboard by carefully following the mainboard's instruction manual.
Note : Only TG420-U01tUO2 & TG480-U01 provide the innovative transformable mainboard
wnnectors for universal use (e.g. 20-pin for ATX12V, 24-pin for BTXtEPS12VIATX-V2.2
and the 448-pin *12VIP4 for all).
These Tagan PSUs are therefore compatible with almost all latest standard specifications
supportmg different mainboard types, even with latest PC1 Express. (more detail in
http:llwww formfactors.org/)
Furthermore, up to 4 (four) SATA and 2 (two) VGA power connectors are provided as
standard - by TG48GU01 (see Chap. 5.2 & 7).
TG420-U0112* : This high-performance PSU with transformable 20-124-pin + 4-18-pin connectors
TG480-U01
(compatible with SSlIEPSI 2V or BTX or latest ATX V2.2 See Chap, 8) was
initially dedicated for sewer applications (using dual CPUs, RAID subsystem
etc.). The Tagan Innovative transformable mainboard connectors enable you not
only to connect dual CPU marnboards having 24- 8 8-pin connectors, but also
single CPU rna~nboards
having only 20-124- & 4-p~n
connectors.
* Special edition TG420-U02 (I-Xeye) : Front and rear fans are ~llurninated four blue LEDs (in
by
X-form).
Note : The shape of the DC connector--with its marked nose--should prevent incorrect insert~on.
So do not insert the DC connector forcibly with violence, if you feel too big res~stance.
Double check the correct connector direction first, otherwise any damage can occur.

4. Connect the large Cpin device mnnectors to your storage peripherals, such as HDD, CD-ROM
or DVDdrive etc.
5. Connect the small Cpin device connectors in your 3.5 " FDD.
6. Connect the SATA 1Spin pwver oonnector to your Serial-ATA hard disc device, if any.
Note : fG480-U01 provides 4 (four) SATA connectors, but another models only two.
7. Connect the extra VGA power connector (blue color) to your VGA card, if such a connector
exists on your high-performanceVGA card.
Note : The VGA connector cables are shielded with copper-mesh against RFIIEMI.

8. Connect the RTN grounding cable connector (a thick cable) to one of the fixing screw-holes d
your mainboard (the RTNIGND connections). Double-check, for contacts with nearby
components and for short-circuit.
Note : T h ~ s
extra-thick RTNIGND cables is supporting not only the DC output by-pass currerbt
ground loop, but also reducing the ripplelnoise and increasing the overall system stability.

Hake sure that the AC input of your domestic power network has the correct voltage.
W e . The AC cord of the Tagan TG480-U01 is enveloped with grounded copper-mesh shielding
against RFIIEMI and for security.
10. Double check whether all the connectors to the mainboard and peripherals are properly
connected before proceedling with the next steps.
13. Connect the AC power cord to the PSU and with your AC domestic power network, switch on
the power switch and f~nally
turn on your computer system for booting up your Operating
System (0s).
Troubleshooting:
Ifyour PC system does n d respond, then please follow the following instruction to fix the problem:
a Ensure the AC power cord is connected tightly and the AC power switch is turned on.
b. Ensure all DC output connectors are connected in the right direction and tightly plugged in.
c. Check whether there is any short-circuit problem or defective peripherals, by unplugging each
peripheral device-+ne by one-at a time.
d. If one of the above-mentioned problems occurred, please wait for ca. 1-2 minutes, then turn on
the PSU again. Switching off and then on is necessary to release the latch condition of the
protection arcuit. During the check procedure, fans and LEDs are helpful indiwttons.
e. If the P3U still daes not work properly, please send it back to your vendor or directly to the
nearest Tagan distributor or headquartersfor immediate exchange and for futther analysing.

requirement of higher power performance combined with the demand of possibly noise-free
environment and high reliability.
All Tagan PSU models are whispering PSU types of a typical noise of 20-21 dBA up to ca. 60% of
full load. Due to TSCT (Tagan Silence Control Technology) the fan speed constantly stays at the
possible lowest RPM rats (490--550RPM at c 60%) and will begin to increase linearly up to ca.
1590-1830 RPM (ca. 26-28 dBA under full load), when the heat dissipation is going higher due to
higher loads (see Curve of Fan-speed as a function of Load - in Fig. 1 a, b, c)
